About ExitCleanly

Starting a business gets all the attention. The hard parts - closing an LLC, letting an employee go, managing a struggling performer - get almost none. So people either overpay a lawyer, or guess and get it wrong.

ExitCleanly exists to make those moments clear. For every US state we lay out the form, fee, deadline, and process, with a link to the state filing agency, plus free tools that turn that into your personal checklist and documents. Our research page says which details we have confirmed at the source and which we have not yet.

Who runs it: a single independent operator, not a law firm and not a filing service.

How we make money: the guides and tools are free. A few pages link to partners (LawDepot letter builders, the Rezi resume builder, the Bizee and LegalZoom dissolution filing services); those links are labelled "Paid link" next to the link, and we may earn a commission if you buy. Partner links never change the steps we recommend.

What we are not: a law firm. Everything here is general information, not legal, tax, or financial advice. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant agency and a licensed professional.
